Although we’d love to tell you all about our great cleaning products, our ecological credentials and plant-based ingredients … we know it's not 'about us' at all. It's about you… It's because of you, your family and the world you live in that we've spent more than 30 years making powerful, efficient products that clean with care.

We clean with care when it comes to your family's skin; whether you're washing your sheets, your floors, your hands or your dishes, our products don't contain those man-made chemicals that can irritate your skin. We clean with care when it comes to the environment; our products are made from natural, sustainable plant-based ingredients and we're constantly working to ensure they leave fewer unnecessary residues, biodegrade even more quickly and have less impact on aquatic life.

We were the first to introduce phosphate-free washing powder in the 1980s. Since then, we've installed green roofs on our factories to save energy. We've turned raw sugarcane into fantastic plastic packaging that is 100% renewable, reusable and recyclable. We've won awards for our products' exceptional cleaning power and we've even offered our technology to our industry competitors. We don't mind sharing - not if it means less impact on the environment.

In 1979, many cleaners contained toxic ingredients. These toxic ingredients could pollute waterways, destroy wildlife and even cause harm to the people cleaning with them. If the practice continued, the world would soon become a very dirty place.

A group of eco-pioneers recognized this issue and sought to help people break free from all their bad cleaning habits. In a small garden shed in a rural Belgian town, Ecover was founded. The world's first phosphate-free laundry detergent was introduced, proving that you can get a powerful clean and still make Mother Nature happy.

Plant Based Ingredients

Our ingredients are preferably purchased close to the factory and come from renewable sources. By using ‘green chemistry’, we know how to use these ingredients to create effective washing and cleaning products.

PlantPlastic Bottle 

To make our bottles we switched to plastic made from sugar cane. This means that as a company, we save about 13,500 cans of crude oil each year – or the equivalent of 280 trips around the world!

No Animal Testing

All of Ecover’s products are Leaping Bunny certified. Leaping Bunny is an international certification that assures that no animal testing is done in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories or suppliers. Because we respect our furry friends.
